Terms of Service

The service

Maia is an AI-powered learning platform: it generates structured courses (from your own goals or from documents your organization uploads), teaches them through adaptive tutoring, and reports learning outcomes. By creating an account or using maia.study, you agree to these terms. If you use Maia through an organization, that organization's administrator controls your membership, assigned courses, and associated reporting.

Your account

You must provide accurate information and keep control of your sign-in method (Google account or email inbox). You are responsible for activity under your account. You can sign out of all devices at any time from settings.

Your content

  • You (or your organization) own the documents and materials you upload and the courses generated from them.
  • You grant us the limited license needed to operate the service: to process, store, and display your content to you and to the members of your organization you assign it to.
  • We do not use your content to train AI models.
  • You must have the rights to any material you upload, and you may not upload content that is unlawful or infringes others' rights.

AI-generated content

Courses and lessons are generated by AI and may contain errors. For organization courses, Maia provides source citations and a human review workflow so your designated expert can verify and approve content before learners see it: but responsibility for reviewing and approving organizational training content rests with your organization. Maia is not professional, legal, medical, or financial advice.

Plans and billing

  • Free: A monthly amount of included usage, about 1 class. No payment method to start. When that usage runs out, learning pauses until the next month or you upgrade.
  • Plus: $15 per month, auto-renewable, with about 8 classes of included usage. Billed by Apple if you subscribe in the iOS app, or by card on the web.
  • Pro: $30 per month, auto-renewable, with about 15 classes of included usage. Billed the same way as Plus.
  • Extra usage: Optional, and only on Plus or Pro, after included usage runs out. It is not a substitute for the subscription. On iPhone, extra-usage packs are purchased through the App Store. On the web, you can buy extra usage or turn on auto top-up.
  • Schools: A shared usage pool. Students do not pay for classes a school assigns. A personal Free, Plus, or Pro plan still covers classes and courses you create on your own.
  • Plus and Pro renew each month until you cancel. On iPhone, manage or cancel in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. On the web, cancel from billing settings. Paid access continues until the end of the period already paid. If a renewal payment fails, access continues for a short grace period while you update payment.
  • Included usage resets each month and does not roll over. Extra usage you buy stays until you use it.
  • Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law.
  • Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice. A subscription price change applies from the next billing period.

Acceptable use

Don't abuse the service: no attempts to breach security, no scraping or reselling access, no circumventing rate limits or plan limits, no using the platform to generate unlawful or harmful content. We may suspend accounts that do.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate accounts for breach of these terms, with notice where practicable. On termination you can request an export of your data (see our privacy policy).

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be notified by email or in-product notice, and continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. Questions: dan@maia.study.
