Canvas
All of Maia, in Canvas.
Drop readings, notes, and slides. Maia lays them out as modules, pages, and assignments in Canvas. Or start from the course that is already there, and Maia turns it into materials you check before anyone sits them.
Nothing reaches students until you publish it.
Into Canvas
A set of files becomes the course.
Word, PDF, PowerPoint, or a whole folder. Maia reads them and lays out the weeks. A short description works the same way, if the files are not ready yet.
- Stay close to the files, or let Maia add goals and learning activities around what is already there. The original files stay attached under their own names.
- You preview every module. Making the course adds it after anything already in Canvas. Nothing already there is changed or removed.
- It stays unpublished until you show it to students. The plan is kept in Syllabus Studio, so a later pass updates those modules in place.

Into Maia
The course becomes the materials.
Maia reads the modules, pages, files, and quizzes that are already in the course. You decide what students sit, and what stays ordinary Canvas work.
- Import makes a draft in Maia. You check it, then create it. Students see nothing until you assign it.
- From a module, choose which items become a sitting, a viva, or a practice exam. Those assignments go back into Canvas.
- You can also revise the pages and assignments that are already written. You confirm each change before Canvas updates.

What you can make
A draft in Maia
The modules, pages, files, and quizzes, checked before anyone sits them.
Assignments back in Canvas
A sitting, a viva, or a practice exam, on the items you pick.
Still inside the course
Students open Maia where the course is.
They click Maia in the course menu, already signed in, in the right class.
The grade waits for you.
Maia marks against the rubric on the assignment. You edit the score, then send it. The gradebook updates when you do.
One item, or the whole course.
Create Maia Assignment works from a page, a file, a quiz, or a discussion. Syllabus Studio works from the Modules page.
Start from the files, or from the course.
An administrator installs Maia once. After that, teachers open it from the course.
